Dr. Maria Gomes
Being a doctor is in Maria Gomes’ genes. Literally. She comes from a long line of doctors, following in the footsteps of her great grandfather, grandfather, and father. She received her medical degree from Oporto University
Medical School in her homeland of Portugal, then completed her residency and a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics before joining
Minneapolis Radiology Associates in 2003. Today Dr. Gomes specializes in minimally invasive, targeted treatments using radiology imaging.
She sees patients for conditions ranging from painful
varicose veins, to spine fractures resulting from osteoporosis or cancer to fibroids causing abnormal uterine bleeding. Using minimally invasive techniques, the procedures typically have less risk, less pain, and less
